Terrigal runners raise at least $30,000 to help save young lives

The Rotary Club of Gosford North has today celebrated another hugely successful Quicksand Australia Soft Sand Run at Terrigal Beach, raising at least $30,000 for charity.

Now in its third year, the event attracted its largest-ever number of registered participants, with runners taking part in the 10km, 5km and 2km family events. Perfect sunny conditions also greeted participants after rain had been forecast for the morning.

The event, featuring Australian ultramarathon legend Pat Farmer AM, raises funds for SOKS – Save Our Kids from Suicide, supporting suicide awareness and prevention initiatives for young people on the Central Coast.

Rotary Club of Gosford North President Mark Cooper said the club was thrilled with the community response.

“To see more people than ever get behind this event, enjoy the beach and help raise at least $30,000 for such an important cause is a fantastic result. We’re incredibly proud of what our community has achieved today.”

The final fundraising total will be confirmed once proceeds from today’s raffle are finalised, but the event has already delivered a significant contribution to charity and cemented Quicksand Australia as an important annual community event on the Central Coast.
